Mountopia
—

Solo Exhibition shown at Gallery Rivoli
Geneva, Switzerland 2018 and Gallery Mommsenstr Berlin, Germany 2019.

The mountain rises before our eyes.
Gigantic, immovable, eternal. A monument of the time.
We look at the endless masses of rock, clear lines and edgy shapes, shades of gray and gradients. The size of the mountains makes us humble and at the same time outgrow us we see overwhelming beauty and feel universal grandeur. But what do we actually see? And what do we not see?

MOUNTOPIA is the latest work by the Chilean artist Rommy Gonzalez and deals with these same questions.
In the center are the mountains and their composition,
which is removed layer by layer. Your singular elements that are extracted and be rearranged afterwards. Rock, minerals and plants merge it is own organic worlds beyond the obvious.

Mountain (English: mountain) meets Topia (Latin: landscape). Abstract, from the time fallen mountain landscapes, which can be understood as "tectonic art": For the not to grasp the human eye and yet always among us, always on the move.
It is no coincidence that Utopia sounds as well, because in Gonzalez 's imagination the elements of nature always a harmonious whole, an unconditional interaction
all life forms.

The inspiration for MOUNTOPIA was found by the artist through two magical places from her own life: The Andes in their homeland Chile are also among the larges Mountain ranges of the Earth like the Swiss Alps near their adopted hometown Geneva.

Microvitae

Solo Exhibition at Galería Lira

We have long since moved away from nature and barely perceive their wealth of detail and functional beauty. As individuals isolated from each other, although we divide the living spaces through which we move, the universal similarities of all organisms at most still see as hazy foggy images.

The exhibition Microvitae is a wake-up call that raises our view of the fascinating symbioses of life again. This look passes through surfaces and literally penetrates into the interior: to the core of microscopically small cells, in whose living forms the great is reflected.

Inspired by animal and plant cell structures, Rommy Gonzalez creates fantastic micro-landscapes in which earthly dimensions are redefined. The parallels between the different cell types are surprising - and make it clear that there are only a few subtle differences responsible for the endless diversity of nature.

Microvitae is a biological-artistic exploration of the human form of life as part of the universal whole.
